Hiding under the Mourvédre alias, Mataro has too often been relegated to the rank of a ‘blends only’ varietal. The time for a Resurrection is now. Driven by the new generation of Barossa winemakers, Mataro is once again taking its place as a single varietal of regional significance.

Delicious example of a varietal mataro. Sturdy, savoury, well ripened. Has a whole lot going for it. Earth, boysenberry, leather. Sweet through the middle but savoury and sinewy through the finish. Jack of all trades. High quality booze. Good now and for cellaring. 93 points - Campbell Mattinson

Wine Profile

Colour: Medium depth crimson with purple hues.

Aroma: Mulberry and blueberry aromas jump out of the glass with lovely milk chocolate and a hint of white pepper.

Palate: Yummy sweet fruit is the first impression, but this quickly changes to what Mataro is known for, pepper and spice. Medium bodied but very complex with very fine yet firm tannins, savoury notes and a little mineral streak which flows through the long and spicy finish.
