2010 'Resurrection' Mataro
Langmeil sources its Mataro from vineyards treated as Barossa treasures and hand-tended from pruning to harvest. We then employ traditional hands-on winemaking: gentle de-stemming, open fermentation and basket pressing, then matures in 100% seasoned French oak barrels for 12 months without fining and minimal filtration before bottling under screw cap to capture the essence of the vineyard. This bottle of Resurrection Mataro will benefit from years in the cellar and decanting before serving.
Colour: Medium depth crimson with purple hues.
Aroma: Mulberry and blueberry aromas jump out of the glass with lovely milk chocolate and a hint of white pepper.
Palate: Yummy sweet fruit is the first impression, but this quickly changes to what Mataro is known for, pepper and spice. Medium bodied but very complex with very fine yet firm tannins, savoury notes and a little mineral streak which flows through the long and spicy finish.
