Hello

'There's more than one kind of tea?' 'What do you have?'

'Let's see, blueberry, raspberry, ginseng, sleepytime, green tea, green tea with lemon, green tea with lemon and honey, Liver Disaster, ginger with honey, ginger without honey, vanilla almond, white truffle coconut, chamomile, blueberry chamomile, decaf vanilla walnut, Constant Comment and Earl Grey.'

'I, uh, what are you having? Did you make some of those up?'

This excerpt from Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novel, Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life, highlights the modern dilemma (dare I say first world problem) of paralysing choice. In his book, The Paradox of Choice – Why More is Less, American psychologist Barry Schwartz suggests that while it is a privilege to be able to choose, being faced with too many options can cause stress and inhibit decision making. In the lead up to Australia's big choice on May 21, we thought the least we could do is to alleviate the stress of having to choose your wine.

For the next three weeks, our members' offer page will display just one wine weekly, delivered freight-free to your door for the seasonally adjusted price of $89.95 a six-pack. Early polling suggests that with a few years of maturity under its belt, our first candidate, the classic 2017 Gentry Cabernet Shiraz, will have much to offer and will prove a popular choice. But don't just take our word for it; renowned Australian wine writer Huon Hooke awarded it a silver ribbon and wrote, 'The wine is full and rich, ripe and fruit-sweet on the palate, a satisfying red with a polished presentation. An appealing wine with good cabernet character. It's good value, too.'

Speak to you next week!

Kind regards,

Jonathan Bitter
